Jackson Event Helps Revitalize Local Economy

If every Michigan household shifted just $10 of its weekly spending to Michigan-made products, collectively we would put $38 Million a week back into our local economy. We don’t have to wait for large corporations to relocate here, or new industries to be born. Together we can revitalize our local economy by paying attention to where our own dollars go. That is the impetus behind the Buy Michigan Now campaign, and an exciting event returning to Jackson for its third consecutive year this month.

The Buy Michigan Now Fall Fest, presented by American 1 Credit Union, is taking place at the Jackson County Fairgrounds on Saturday, October 28th from 11AM to 5PM and Sunday, October 29th from 10AM to 4PM. Michigan-based companies will be on site with an incredible array of locally-made products. Guests can talk directly to the people who make most of these products to learn about how they were made, what ingredients are used, and where else they can be purchased.  It’s a phenomenal place to get a head start on holiday gift shopping, and find unique Michigan-made items, rather than sending money off to online retailers or trips to a mall.

Guests who register online by October 18th, may even participate in a Michigan-themed Halloween Costume Contest on Sunday, October 29th for a chance to win $300.

In addition to the shopping, guests will find food trucks and plenty of family fun. Farmer Dick’s Petting Zoo will be on hand, as well as pumpkin bowling, giant Jenga, inflatable games, corn hole, pumpkin and gourd painting and other surprises. Roary, the always entertaining mascot for the Detroit Lions, will be there from 12PM to 2PM on Saturday for selfie opportunities. Jackson’s own Ed Thayer, also known as Steampunk Eddie, champion of GSN’s (Game Show Network) national competition show, Steampunk’d, will unveil his latest mysterious creation, the Great Steampunk Smash, throughout the weekend.

Parking and admission are free. Come for the shopping, stay for the fun, and help revitalize Michigan’s economy, one product, one purchase, one person at a time.
