Midwest Open Ice Fishing Tournament

The 2021 Ice Fishing Tournament is scheduled for Jan. 31, 2021 at Wamplers Lake.

Watch as hundreds of anglers from all over the country set up their shanties for the Midwest Open Ice Fishing Tournament. This annual competition takes place in the Brooklyn-Irish Hills area, about 20 miles south of Jackson. This tourney is for serious fishermen: thousands of dollars are waiting to be divvied up to the top fisherman — along with a $20,000 grand prize for the lucky team who finishes first.

For Those Who Wish to Fish, We Salute You

Advance registration is required for this two-man team event. One line is allowed in the water at a time, and you can choose to fish with or without a shelter. The event is dependent on cooperating weather, so warm weather and thin ice may result in a date change. Refunds are available until a given date for competitors who can’t make it.

The Results Are In

Both participants and spectators will enjoy watching the tournament’s top performers and money winners be announced. Cash prizes and fishing gear are handed out for total catch weight, while largest crappie and largest bluegill will both receive bonus side pots. Winners will be announced at Columbia Central High School in Brooklyn.
