MIS: Planning Your Trip

Experience the thrill of racing at NACARS fastest track: Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn Michigan. With 18 degree banking and 73 foot turns, this track offers guests the opportunity to see racing at its best. Trust me, regardless on if you come for a day or spend the entire weekend, there is so much to do you and your family will never be bored.
Planning your trip - know in advance if you are coming for the big race on Sunday or want to take in all the action and activities and make it an entire weekend of life-long memories. Regardless of if you are planning on attending just Sunday’s race or staying around for the whole weekend, here are a couple of tips that will ensure you make this the best possible getaway
Getting to MIS and Parking: This is the one thing I always hear concerns about from people who haven’t been to MIS before and let me tell you-after being at the race for the last 5 years, every year it gets easier. MIS works with local and state law enforcement and traffic flows are controlled! There are parking lots located all over MIS with handicap accessible, motorcycles, and RV parking. Not to mention the trams that run from the parking lots into the heart of MIS. Getting there isn’t your biggest concern-trying to fit in all the activities and seeing everything is your biggest concern.
What to bring: Wear comfortable shoes you are going to be walking, dress in layers so as the day progresses you can remove or add layers to keep yourself comfortable, expect the unexpected-it’s Michigan and it could be blue skies one minute and a short downpour the next-bring a raincoat, bring and use often sunscreen and lastly you can bring backpacks and coolers into the track but check out http://www.mispeedway.com/Guest-Guide/Gate-Policy.aspx for the most up to date requirements.
Arrive early and by early I mean early: 9:00am is the optimal time to arrive to secure a great parking space and gives you time to enjoy all the pre-race activities (I’ll talk about those in a minute) and get something delicious to eat and drink before the race starts. You are going to want to be in your seat before the race starts to see the planes fly over and the parachutes jump onto the track.
Staying Busy: From the Rookie Pit Stop, to Fan Appreciation booths, to Kids Club to Pit Passes there is something for everyone to do. The kids will be entertained at the bounce houses, games and specials through Kids Club. For the adults, there is shopping, shopping and more shopping not to mention checking out the latest cars, scoring all the give a ways, and indulging in an adult beverage or two. Food-Food-and yes more Food! You can’t walk 10 steps and not see or smell the deliciousness or variety of food offered. From the traditional hot dog or pizza to out of this world BBQ. You won’t go hungry so be sure and come hungry so you can try it all.
Lastly, have fun! For some this is an every year event but for others this is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Take advantage of as many of the offering MIS and NASCAR has to ensure you are creating your own lifetime memories.
