We’ve all felt the hope and anticipation for community events this year. From event cancellations to having events postponed, we’ve waited patiently for our favorite spring and summer events to come back to #JacksonMI. Although there will be limited participants due to safety restrictions, a major highlight of the upcoming season is the Orthopaedic Rehab Specialists Race Series!
Throughout the spring, summer, and fall there will be nine races held as part of the ORS Race Series across #JacksonMI. Races like the Family Services Children’s Aid 5K, Jackson Rose Run, Oktoberfest Run and Turkey Trot will be held right here in Jackson at the Grand River Brewery and Ella Sharp Museum. There will also be races throughout Jackson county in Concord, Hanover, and Grass Lake so participants can explore all the beauty #JacksonMI has to offer!
The Orthopaedic Rehab Specialists have put together this race series as a promotion for movement, activity, health, and wellness to encourage families and people of all ages to be active. Following the State of Michigan COVID-19 safety guidelines, there will be restrictions for the number of participants for each race and event, so sprint to the signups to reserve your spot as soon as possible!
The 2021 Race Series includes:
Family Services Children’s Aid 5K & Fun Run – April 24, 9 A.M.
This race starts and finishes at the Grand River Brewery, as you get to see the Armory Arts Trail, the Jackson High Campus, the historic prison, and Downtown Jackson.
Jackson ORS Rose Run – June 12, 9 A.M. – 5 P.M.
Enjoy the beautiful scenery at the 51st Annual Jackson Rose Run at the Ella Sharp Park! Choose from running the 10K or the 5K run/walk!
Concord Classic – June 23, 7:30 P.M. – 9 P.M.
This flat course is a great one to go after a personal best – and support the Concord cross country team while you’re at it!
Hanover Firecracker – July 4
Spend your Fourth of July in downtown Hanover by running the 5 mile or the 5K, followed by a parade and fun family activities afterwards!
Traffic Jam’In 5K Run/Walk – July 9, 7 P.M. – 9 P.M.
Held in Grass Lake, MI, you can enjoy a scenic route along the lake as part of the race! With refreshments along the trail, you can also hear live music playing as you cross the finish line!
Run Clark Lake – August 7
One of Michigan’s premier summer races, this event is not to disappoint – multiple races along the lake with a party on the beach afterwards!
Heart of a Lion 5K – September 12
Race around Ella Sharp Park and test your endurance at the Heart of a Lion 5K Race this fall!
ORS Octoberfest 8K/5K – October 23, 8 A.M. – 11 A.M.
With both 8K and 5K races USATF certified, you can enjoy running through downtown Jackson – right after you redeem your buffet ticket at the starting point, Grand River Brewery!
