As the owners of epIQ escapes, we are passionate about giving Jackson fun options for friends, families, and companies alike. We opened our business 4 years ago with the goal of providing our small town with a big city attraction. Since, the escape room industry has grown immensely. Escape rooms are now at the top of the list for best date night and are recognized by many Fortune500 companies as an effective and fun team building option.
What started as a backyard sport in Canada is quickly growing in popularity. Axe throwing is a safe and competitive sport, and we think it will be as popular as escape rooms. There are currently 100 axe throwing facilities across the United States, only a few of which are in Michigan. The next will be right here in downtown Jackson!
Axe Play will have five lanes consisting of two targets each that can be rented by the hour. After some coaching, groups will take turns throwing axes at a target. Choose between round-robin style tournaments or free throw.
Seasonal leagues will be offered at Axe Play, allowing participants weekly access to targets at a discounted rate and the opportunity to qualify for the World Axe Throwing Championship. We are a member of the World Axe Throwing League (WATL), which is the global governing body for the sport of urban axe throwing and an exclusive partner of ESPN. That means that we will follow all regulations and safety standards put forth by WATL, as well as provide professional training for our staff.
We are enthusiastic about the revitalization of downtown, and this attraction will entice out-of-towners seeking adventure, bringing in foot traffic. Our goal is to make Jackson a place where lasting, positive memories can be made!
