SPEEDWAY STOMPâ„¢ 5K paced by Experience Jackson comes to MIS

BROOKLYN, Mich. (May 8, 2015) – Michigan International Speedway hosted the inaugural SPEEDWAY STOMP™ 5K paced by Experience Jackson on Friday.

The 3.1-mile run took participants around portions of the MIS oval and through parts of its historic grounds. It served as a lead-in event the evening before Saturday’s Michigan Wine and Beer Fest presented by Experience Jackson.

More than 250 runners registered for SPEEDWAYS STOMP.

“Anytime we can bring guests to Michigan International Speedway is an awesome day,” MIS President Roger Curtis said. “It’s wonderful to open up this speedway for an evening run, all while serving as a kick off for our Michigan Wine and Beer Fest presented by Experience Jackson.”

Joel Dinverno from Grass Lake, Michigan, was the top male finisher, while Lindsay Harris from Brooklyn finished first among the females. Each winner received two tickets to the August 16 Pure Michigan 400, two pit passes and two driver introduction passes.

“It was thrilling to run on the track,” Kristine Oard, NASCAR enthusiast and runner said. “It’s so amazing to be here as a NASCAR fan, and then be able to run around the racetrack. I can’t describe it.”

Every entry for the run received a ticket to the festival. Only those 21 and older can use the wine fest ticket.

The infield at Michigan International Speedway will come to life with the best wineries and breweries from across the state noon to 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 9. The Michigan Wine and Beer Fest presented by Experience Jackson returns to the track and will feature the same great variety of wines and beers.

This event will once again showcase the tastes and toasts of Michigan wineries, Michigan breweries and Michigan eateries in a unique setting — the state’s only NASCAR Sprint Cup Series racetrack and the fastest track on the circuit.

Nestled in the lush Irish Hills of Southeastern Michigan, Michigan International Speedway is the Great Escape, a venerable NASCAR national park where fans can get away and enjoy the very best in racing and camaraderie. It’s the love of racing and the thrill of a great time for race fans and drivers alike.
