Jackson County is absolutely full of beautiful lakes, each just a stone’s throw away. These parks are all FREE to enjoy. Check out for more information and watch our video here!

Portage Lake County Park

This park was donated by Herbert C. and Raymond Ready of Waterloo Township, hence the name Portage Lake Ready Park. It includes a picnic area, grills, playground and swimming area, boat launch and portable toilets. It’s a 6 acre park with plenty of room to play and swim, and best of all it’s clean and has plenty of scenic areas to relax and just enjoy nature.

Grass Lake County Park

This 9 acre park has been open since 1941 and includes everything you need to spend a day by the lake. Ice fishing days and other events also take place right here.

Gillett’s Lake County Park

Here you can bring the kids to play a game of baseball/softball, enjoy a picnic under the shelter and play on the playground, and of course take a dip in the beautiful waters of Gillett’s Lake.

Little Wolf Lake County Park

In 1925, the county bought this property with the mindset of preserving public access to area lakes. Good idea! This park offers a swim area with a grassy beach, play equipment, picnic shelter with a grill and restrooms. It’s a quaint little park nestled in Napoleon Township.

Clark Lake County Park

This park is located on Ocean Beach Rd. about a mile down from Jefferson Rd. Like the others, it’s fully equipped with grills, a picnic area, play area and more. Enjoy a stroll through the shade in the grassy, wooded park and when you reach the water there are a couple of sandy beach spots. It’s actually one of the oldest parks in Jackson County!
