In 2017 the HHAHS brought "home" the log cabin originally from Liberty Township, Jackson County. Built around 1830, it was owned by James R and Alice West according to the 1940 census. This is the second journey for this cabin. In 1967 Herb Gumper moved the cabin to the Jackson County Fairgrounds as a display of historic life. It remained in the Fairgrounds for 50 years until HHAHS dismantled and moved it to our Heritage Park.
Learn more about the cabin and early life on Log Cabin Day. Discover some old-fashioned skills such as weaving, quilting, spinning and cabin building.
