Cascades Cycling Club is proud to present a bicycle tour that showcases south central Michigan’s rural roads, summer scenery, its wine country and delicious, locally sourced food. Enjoy riding scenic, lightly travelled country roads and the new linear State Park, the Mike Levine Lakelands Trail.
The 8th annual Pedal & Whine Bike Tour will be held on Saturday, August 7, at Sandhill Crane Vineyards. Join us for this very popular, fully supported ride that has grown significantly in each of its first seven years. Enjoy bicycling along the scenic, lightly travelled roads of eastern Jackson county and the Waterloo Recreation area. With routes of 11, 16, 29, 31, 53 and 68 miles, cyclists can choose to ride as much or as little as they like. All routes are fully supported by roving "SAG" vehicles so participants can ride worry free.
REGISTER FOR THIS RIDE: You can register online for this event through Active.com by clicking on the link to our website or our Facebook event page.
PARKING & CHECK IN: Parking for this ride will be 1/4 mile south of Sandhill Crane Vineyards at the East Jackson Elementary School, 4340 Walz Rd. Participants are asked to park at the school and ride their bikes to Sandhill Crane Vineyards for check-in and a light breakfast of coffee, fruit and bagels before beginning their ride. Check-in begins at 7:30 a.m.
THE RIDE: All routes begin and end at Sandhill Crane Vineyards. Each rider will receive a detailed route map and a turn by turn cue sheet, and all routes will be clearly marked on the pavement. New routes this year give riders the option of including sections of the Mike Levine Lakelands Trail on their ride.
LUNCH: Lunch, prepared by the expert staff at the vineyard's cafe, will be served between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. and is included for all pre-registered riders. Lunch is also available for purchase for non-riders. Vegetarian and gluten free options will be available to pre-registered riders.
WINE & BEER: Wine tasting will be available from Sandhill Crane Vineyards at a reduced rate beginning at 10:00 a.m. The vineyard will once again be brewing a special craft beer for this event, which will also be available for purchase.
