Wednesday, August 26th was the 100th anniversary of the passage of the 19th amendment. This is a historic day for all.
The LWVJA (League of Women Voters Jackson Area) is showcasing a display at the Glidden Parker Gallery at CP Federal City Square, on Pearl Street, between Blackstone and Jackson. This visual display will illustrate the suffrage movement from the mid-1840s to the present.
The display was created by Marie Fisher, a member of the League of Women Voters Jackson Area, and the murals are part of an illustrated timeline for the Women's Suffrage Movement, produced by the National Women’s History Project. This display will be present from August 24th through October 18, 2020.
The League of Women Voters Jackson Area is strong and active, working to inform citizens of their right to vote. As this display demonstrates, the right to vote was not given. The right to vote was fought for.
