Experience Jackson’s Great Outdoors

There’s no feeling like flying down your favorite trail on a bike with leaves whipping past you. In Jackson, it’s every local’s favorite pastime this time of year, and if it’s not biking, it’s probably exploring another one of Jackson’s outdoor wonders.

If biking sounds up your alley, or rather your trail, be sure to travel through Falling Waters Trail to fulfill your sense of adventure. This trail is a 10.5-mile paved trail where you can take in natural springs, trees, and the headwaters of local rivers and lakes.

If you’d like to bike through something a bit more populated, consider one of our beautiful parks. Cascades Park is home to local favorites, like Cascades Ice Cream Co., Cascades Falls, and the splash pad. While you’re there, walk the trail that travels through the park, over bridges, under trees, and around gardens. Maybe speeding by on a skateboard sounds more appealing. Do a 180 over to Nixon Skate Park for some skating and shredding.

Ella Sharp Park not only offers plenty of outdoor recreation to take in but other attractions as well. The disc golf course at Ella Sharp Park accommodates all skill levels, allowing any player to enjoy the rolling hills of the course while having some fun outdoors. At Ella Sharp Park, you can find a mini-golf course that’s fun for the whole family. Climb over rocks and around water features while putting your way through this course. If you like the sound of mini-golf, and your interests are peaked at a prehistoric sense of adventure, look no further than Jurassic Golf for your next springtime quest.

Don’t forget! We have nearly 20 local golf courses waiting for your friends and family to play. If you’re looking for a way to spend a laid-back weekend, Experience Jackson is offering Stay & Play packages.

After a long winter, you may be dying to get your hands in the dirt and out in the sunshine. If this sounds like you, consider volunteering for Grow Jackson and help grow food for the community.

If adventure is calling, and a simple walk in the park just won’t do it, Waterloo Recreation Area offers over 20,000 acres of campgrounds, beaches, lakes, trails, and much more. Trot along the equestrian trail or fish in one of 11 of the lakes in the area. There’s no shortage of outdoor adventure at Waterloo. Perhaps something a bit more whimsical is calling your family to come to explore. The Fairy Forest of Grass Lake Village is decorated to fit different holidays, events, and themes throughout the year. Wander through a wonderland full of fairies, gnomes, magical creatures, and more, all year long!

Spring is a great time to walk up and down the streets of downtown Jackson to eat, drink, and shop! Grab an afternoon bite at Ogma or a coffee at Jackson Coffee Company. Pop into the Blessed Nest or Rustic Market Co. to see what’s new for spring and early summer. If you need a bit of guidance, there are plenty of walking tours downtown for you to experience on the Experience Jackson website.

However you choose to spend the rest of your spring, share it with us by tagging us on Facebook and Instagram…And remember, you don’t need to be in school to enjoy a spring break. Plan a variety of these activities during a weekend while staying in one of our many Jackson County hotels.
