Frights and Fun in Jackson

As the days grow shorter, and the leaves begin to fall, the ghosts and ghouls of Jackson County begin to emerge from their summer slumber, ready for Halloween. They come from far and near to enjoy the eerie, the creepy, and the scary fun that awaits them. After all, Jackson County is the place for frights and fun.

For those brave enough to face the fearful frights of a haunted attraction, you won’t be disappointed with Jackson’s Underworld. This is one of the largest and most horrifying haunted houses in Michigan, with four stories of scares and over 115,000 square feet of pure evil. You will encounter zombies, clowns, demons, and other creatures that will make you wish you were dead. The Jackson Underworld is open every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night, as well as on Halloween night. Doors open at 7pm. Check their site for pricing. If you dare to enter the Jackson Underworld, be prepared for a night of terror.

Next, head to downtown Jackson and experience Zoerman’s Zombies. This is a haunted 3D experience that takes place in an abandoned factory that was once used for prison labor. The history of this place is dark and gruesome, as prisoners were worked to death in deplorable conditions. The spirits of prisoners past have taken over the artists of Art 634 to create an army of zombies, and they are waiting for you. Zoerman’s Zombies features live actors, animatronics, 3D art, and jump scares that will make your heart race. Zoerman’s Zombies is open every Friday and Saturday night from 8 to 11:30pm in October. Check their site for pricing. Grab your 3D glasses and get ready for one of the top haunted house attractions in mid-Michigan.

For those looking for a bit more fun than fright with that’s perfect for the kids, check out the Jackson College Halloween Spooktacular 2023 on October 27. This event invites children 12 and under to trick or treat through campus buildings, where volunteers will be stationed to distribute treats and guide visitors. Children are encouraged to dress in costumes (though not required) and bring a bag for treats. The event is free and open to the public and runs from 5:30 to 7:00 pm.

If you’re looking for that perfect Halloween mix of nature and family fun, sign up for a Goblin Walk at the Dahlem Center. These guided tours take you through an evening color tour along a half-mile trail. Larger than life critters will be performing fun and educational skits. The program lasts about one-half hour. There will be photo opportunities and refreshments. Sign-up is required

These are just a few eerily fun events and attractions that Jackson has to offer this Halloween season. Don’t delay in planning your visit of frights and fun in Jackson County. Just as the last leaf falls and the ghosts and ghouls rest until next fall, Halloween will be here before you know it. Visit Experience Jackson and scare up your perfect Halloween haunt.
