It’s summertime in Jackson County, which means there’s something for everyone. With events every week and recurring festivals we all love, you’ll never be bored. Keep reading to see which of your favorite local events are back for 2022, big and small.
Cruise-In & Concert
Venture downtown for classic cars, food trucks, live music, and performances of all kinds. Jackson’s Cruise-In & Concerts, put on by the Jackson Downtown Development Authority, take place at the end of each month. Check out our event calendar for dates.
Food Truck Tuesday
Another fun downtown event is Food Truck Tuesdays, which take place every other Tuesday throughout the summer. At each Food Truck Tuesday, you’ll find your local favorites, while oftentimes stumbling upon a new truck you haven’t tried before. If you have picky eaters in the family, Food Truck Tuesday is just for you. It’s the only place in town you can get Mexican, American, Asian, BBQ, burgers, and hot dogs all in one trip!
Summer Kids Film Series
Movies are a great way to cool off on a hot day, out of the sun. The Michigan Theatre shows various movies for the whole family to enjoy through mid-August. Admission is just $1, and what’s a movie without some treats? Kids can enjoy a small drink and popcorn for just $4.
Gus Macker Basketball Tournament
Jackson is so excited to bring Gus Macker back to downtown Jackson July 23-24. Gus Macker is a famous 3-on-3 basketball tournament world tour. Not only is the tournament a huge component, but there will also be competitions for you to compete in, games to play, and see our very own JACK the Elephant play in the mascot basketball tournament!
Faster Horses Festival
The iconic three-day country music festival, Faster Horses is back for 2022 on July 22-24, and it will be one of the biggest shows Jackson County has seen. With Morgan Wallen, Eric Church, and Tim McGraw headlining, it’ll be a weekend you won’t want to miss. Just don’t forget your sunscreen!
Hot Air Jubilee
For decades, Jackson has launched hundreds of hot air balloons into the sky. Join the fun at Ella Sharp Park to watch each balloon soar on July 22-24. While you’re there, adventure through craft booth, Kids Kingdom, an auto show, and explore what Hurst Planetarium, the Ella Sharp Museum, and the mini golf course are bringing to the table this year.
Jackson County Fair
What would summer in Jackson be without the fair? The fair will take place from August 7-13 and include rides, games, frozen lemonades, elephant ears, monster trucks, and even live performances from Larry the Cable Guy and Jeff Foxworthy. Relive the 90s with a Collective Soul and Switchfoot Concert, catch a rodeo, demolition derby and more!
